No Yugoslav entry

An orphaned sentence near the top of the article notes that this is the first Eurovision for 20 years in which no entity from the former Yugoslavia qualified for the final. In continuation from SFRY, every Eurovision in the 1990s saw representation from that part of the world. In 1991 it was the last SFRY entry, in 1992 you had FR Yugoslavia and from 1993 you had other republics. The last time there was neither SFRY nor breakway states is the 1985 show, 28 years ago. That needs to be amended. 94.118.7.116 (talk) 06:30, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Wrong source for Controversy: Lithuania

This section claims that Lithuanians in the UK could not vote for Lithuania, but the source refers to the UK votes from the 2011 contest. It has no connection to this years contest whatsoever. It needs to be removed. Aejsing (talk) 13:41, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Removed sections regarding points from 2011. --[[ axg ◉ talk ]] 18:42, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
I thought we were heading these sections as "incidents" and not 'controversy" - per RfC discussion back in July 2012. WesleyMouse 01:26, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Cleaning up the Incidents Section

I removed the section regarding Andrius Pojavis' profanity in the "Reactions After The Final" video. It is non-notable, and not covered by any third party-sites. The source linked to the YouTube video in question.

I also removed the section on UK people being unable to vote for Lithuania. There was only one article cited which named only an unidentified, anonymous source.

I reworded the Armenia section to make it more encyclopedic. I left this one, in contrast to the Lithuania issue in the previous paragraph, because the sources were named.

Also removed a bit about Malta's song resembling "Hey Soul Sister". This section is sort of sensitive, so everything must have a reliable source! Also, bare references are not acceptable! Please make sure you include the title and author of the page. Mr. Gerbear (talk) 01:58, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm 100% with you Mr Gerbear on bare references not being acceptable. Lately I seem to be wasting time sorting out all the missing ref data, when my time could be utilised better on expanding other articles. If people can't be bothered to fill in the ref data, then don't bother updating the article. Laziness of a few editors isn't fair on the other hard-working editors - don't expect us to be wiping your asses! Rant over! WesleyMouse 03:35, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Just saying, but someone added Lena reading out the wrong points to the wrong country, not an incident, but a mistake, which we all make. --[[ axg ◉ talk ]] 22:22, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Commentator identification

I thought I would post this here in case anybody from these countries or anyone here could identify the commentators in these countries based on the video recordings from the contest:

Regarding K-otic and Only Teardrops

The article sais: "But a member from the Dutch band noted that there was no plagiarism involved." However, the source is quoting Eric van Tijn who is not a member of the band, but the person who first mentioned the similarity. Aejsing (talk) 13:48, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

I think you may have misunderstood the two references. The first is citing what Eric van Tijn has said. The second is citing what K-otic have said. WesleyMouse 13:59, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Well, in the first source, No. 67, it sais: "The Telegraaf quotes producer and talent show judge Eric van Tijn, who says that while the flute intro is ‘clearly one-on-one’ that is the only similarity. Eurovision spokesman Sietse Bakker told news agency Novum 'there is a difference between plagiarism and sounding like another song.' ‘Every year someone says an entry sounds like another song but my experience is that the conclusion is never plagiarism,’ he said."
In the second source, No. 68 it sais: "Liedjes op het Songfestival moeten een nieuwe compositie zijn", vertelt Eric van Tijn, producer en oud-jurylid van Idols, tegen NOS: "Ik denk dat het een storm in een glas water is, want het gaat alleen om de intro." Aejsing (talk) 14:15, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Hmm interesting. Feel free to be bold and reword that section accordingly. WesleyMouse 14:23, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Well done, looks better now. Thanks! WesleyMouse 14:55, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Semi Final voting

I thought it was the only the Big five countries and Sweden that could vote in the semi finals? How comes there is votes from more countries? --90.208.36.8 (talk) 19:38, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

It's whoever is in that semi-final + three of the countries already in the final for each semi-final. --[[ axg ◉ talk ]] 19:53, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Oh okay, I understand now. Thanks for your reply. --90.208.36.8 (talk) 22:50, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
