FYROM/Macedonia dispute

[edit]

We appear to be having an editing dispute between someone who wants "Macedonia" to appear as "FYROM" and not the neater looking  North Macedonia. I believe that the former is better for the article as a whole. --Differentgravy (talk) 18:06, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Technically they play as FYR Macedonia in the tournament, as with all sports competitions that Greece also takes part in. Neutrality would prescribe FYR Macedonia as the full name and MKD as the abbreviation. But who gives a fuck. MaledictusLXIX (talk) 00:23, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We have a guideline for this issue: WP:NCMAC. We use plain "Macedonia". Fut.Perf. 22:15, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I defecate inside you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.155.156.226 (talk) 21:38, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding that,it is reported that during the match between Republic of Macedonia and Geece, the Greek national broadcaster decided to delete the abreviation MKD that is used for our country. This caused major concern in Macedonia.Youtube video is available, and I think Greece will have a penalty this time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.64.173.237 (talk) 12:48, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, we should do something to stop somebody, who changes Macedonia name Monkeydonia, somebody really hates this team. Larfingas (talk) 16:43, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

now that the additional qualifying round is over, the map has to be updated to include just the participating nations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.64.102.186 (talk) 13:13, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goaldifference...

[edit]

It doesn't make sence to write the goal difference, because the goal quotient is used. --93.132.39.250 (talk) 10:09, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The head-to-head-results are used! It's all but impossible, that the overall goal quotient comes into account.--Anaxagoras13 (talk) 20:56, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More than 2 team leaders

[edit]

Is it really necessary to list the team leader for points, rebounds, or assists on the box score for the game? It just looks clunky, and most of the time the total is not particularly memorable. For instance, does anyone care about the names of the 7 Macedonians who had 1 assist in the game against France or the 3 Croatians who had 3 assists in the game against Russia? Bds69 (talk) 02:35, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, how do you decide when to put an article on semi-protection? It gets old when IP addresses change Macedonia three times a day and the Bulgarian fans seem to have something against Earl Rowland and keep changing his information.
I think we should list those players. And you can go to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection if you want. --Turkish Flame 05:03, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As a rule of thumb, when the line for a particular stat wraps, we'd just say "Asts: 7 others, 1". –Howard the Duck 03:42, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Or you guys can split this article into EuroBasket 2009 preliminary round, EuroBasket 2009 eighth-final round and EuroBasket 2009 knockout round if you like. –Howard the Duck 05:01, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guys, if one line from the statline wraps, better say "7 players with x each." There's no sense for listing a team game high when 7 players all got 1 each. –Howard the Duck 13:52, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. --Tone 16:44, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
