I am new to editing. I have a question about one of the statements in this article, and would like to get the thoughts of more experienced users before I challenge (or edit) anything and make a "newby" error! The statement of concern, found at the end of the first paragraph, is: "The sap is...considered carcinogenic." (To be clear, I have no qualms with the attending assertion that the sap is poisonous.) However, regarding the carcinogenic label, I have been unable to verify its accuracy, despite the citations that are provided. I could not find anything in the article linked to the first cite that supports an assertion that the plant's sap is carcinogenic, and I have been so far unsuccessful at getting the second cite's link to open. What I do have is a usually reliable although not always current source that indicates that the plant is "being studied as a cure for various skin cancers." See http://ipm.ucanr.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn7445.html I feel the carcinogen assertion should be removed unless a valid citation supporting the assertion is available. What would be the advice from the community on this? Magpie7405 (talk) 01:06, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I hesitate to make a change to the page, but don't these plants sometimes have a red spot, rather than a black one?Fulto006 (talk) 17:01, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Bob Fulton[reply]

You are correct in that the markings are reddish, and not black. I've changed a few of the egregious errors in the article. I'm working on a draft for a longer / more complete article. Currently collaborating with Hyperik since I'm very new to Wikipedia. Happy to answer any questions or receive additional guidance / constructive criticism as I add sections TRHblue (talk) 16:00, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
