Cleaning up?

[edit]

Imposing your interpretation of MoS on an article falls more readily into the category of defacing. Rotational (talk) 07:52, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, it's not just my interpretation of the MoS, it appears to be general consensus. That was also a minor part of my edit, I also added a standard taxobox, stub template, category, some wikilinks, and nbsps between numbers and their units. You clearly disagree with many of these standard edits, but I assure you that they have general consensus. Again, the way to change that is to come up with a compelling argument and present it to the community. --Rkitko (talk) 12:36, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All the features you prefer have not been arrived at by consensus, but rather by decree. The vast majority of MoS rulings have been decided on after discussion by only a few editors, and then imposed on the rest of the Wikipedia community. If you choose to call that consensus, then it is your privilege to redefine the English language. Rotational (talk) 16:31, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:SILENCE. The wide majority of people seem to be fine with the MoS provisions you disagree with. Again, if you wish to change the status quo, you must come up with a compelling argument and present it, then argue for it, instead of actively ignoring the MoS on the article you write and then edit warring when someone (not just me) changes it. --Rkitko (talk) 18:47, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
WP:DRNC. It is an enormous presumption to equate silence with consent. I suspect that the vast majority of disgruntled users are deterred by the ponderous machinery involved in effecting a change in Wikipedia; that this is accompanied by the irksome and concerted yapping of editors who are not open to change, makes any move in that direction all the more daunting. The edit wars to which you refer started up as a direct result of your whingeing in public forums and thereby drumming up support for an ill-considered cause. ciao Rotational (talk) 08:42, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
WP:DRNC does not apply here. We have a written MoS guideline. When asked in multiple discussions, many people have agreed with the guideline. Many more have reverted your edits or cleaned up your articles to MoS standards. This is not "no consensus"; this implies consensus. I'll grant you the fact that the bureaucracy is seemingly large and imposing, but a discussion starts with the simple act of asking a question and garnering support for it. What's more of a concern is some editor's preference for edit wars and ownership. Whingeing? I don't think so. I began by asking around to see what others thought. When I became concerned about your behavior, I asked for input from other editors. I don't see how that could be misconstrued as "drumming up support". --Rkitko (talk) 21:54, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
