I decided to remove the part that included unsubstantiated rumors about the beef continuing in other forms. I did not see the merit in leaving them in this entry. Jay-Z and Nas were seen at the 2012 release party for "Life is Good." Until proven otherwise, I do not think we should inform readers that the beef is somehow continuing behind close doors 150.209.45.50 (talk) 02:25, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
"The song's title refers not to the chemical ether, but to the mythical element (also known as aether or quintessence) that the spirit or soul is said to be made of ("that ether/that shit that make your soul burn slow")."
I'm not saying this isn't true, but I'm pretty sure Nas is referring to the chemical ether due to its high flammability. He's basically saying he'll fuck with his soul like ether would fuck with his soul. I'm going to remove this for now, unless you have a reliable source that says otherwise you can put it back in with no objection from me.

Surprised this was missing from the page, these lyrics were in the original ether but were asked to be taken out by Fat Joe. "Call yourself gangsta but you were begging for pardon that night in Carbon when Terror Squad flipped on your squadron tried to front on their checks till Pun put a gun to your chest"
AHH: One thing that just came up today, Nas apparently has a response to Jay Z’s "The Takeover" on his upcoming album, which implicates you and Pun and includes the lyrics: "Call yourself gangsta but you were begging for pardon that night in Carbon when Terror Squad flipped on your squadron tried to front on their checks till Pun put a gun to your chest."
Fat Joe: We gotta hear it but damn, what a way to put me right in the middle of the beef huh? We don’t comment on that, that's old news. Like I said all the negative energy all that sh*t you can throw that out the window. Nas is crazy. No question that we are allies with Nas Escobar. We love Nas. I almost named my son after Nas. As far as him and Jay Z with the beef: that’s they stuff. Until somebody tries to involve me in that sh*t, that’s it. I ain’t got no problem with the whole Rocafella. It’s well documented. Everybody keeps trying to get me to talk about that sh*t in every interview. Why don’t they ask Jay Z that stuff? I read his interveiws, nobody asks him. If you interview him, ask him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.253.2 (talk) 20:39, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Glaring omissions
[edit]My apologies if I'm misinterpreting the following sentence, but:
"Though both rappers referenced the feud on their follow-up albums, the aforementioned two tracks remain the most known and best-received disses along with Ice Cube's "No Vaseline" and 2Pac's "Hit Em Up".
Saying that these are the four best-known dis tracks is basically a slap in the face to anyone with a more-than-casual knowledge of hip-hop history.
(Sorry for the anonymous post. I'm just too lazy to register for Wikipedia proper. To avoid stepping on toes, I haven't made any edits either.)
Yeah this is a really bad article and should be started again by someone who both knows what they are talking about and can compose coherent sentences. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.18.37.178 (talk) 19:52, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Why is there no mention at all of any of the other rappers Nas disses in this song? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.171.160.41 (talk) 05:55, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
