Whether to include HBO as a production company?
[edit]I am opening this discussion here because User:HappyINC wants to include a statement over at HBO Kids that says HBO co-produced this series with Sesame Workshop. I have never seen this show, but HappyINC says that there is some kind of byline on the show that says that HBO produced the series (which, of course, I cannot verify one way or the other).
The user also pointed to this external link that has the title "Esme & Roy, from HBO and Sesame Studios, Will Be a Welcome Addition to Your Kids' TV Time". However, the link is a review, not a news source, and there is no express indication in the article that HBO produced the series. The line "from HBO" could easily just refer to the fact that the series airs on HBO, and does not expressly support the statement that HBO produced the series. In addition, the series' official website does not mention HBO.
The original news stories about the series do not list HBO as a producer either - this article from Deadline says that "Esme & Roy is produced [by Sesame Workshop] in partnership with Corus Entertainment’s animation studio, Nelvana, with illustrations inspired by renowned artist Dankerleroux." No mention of HBO.
There doesn't seem to be enough verifiable evidence that HBO is a producer, so I will be re-reverting at HBO Kids. However, I am opening this discussion here to see if any source could be found, or if other users have different opinions. Pinging Waylif22: as they seemed to have reverted the addition of HBO to this article. Aoi (青い) (talk) 23:49, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oh my god, I’m getting sick of this confusion of production. Okay, you. You listen up here. Those references may not say that HBO produced, But the show ITSELF says it apparently did. Again, if you look at the beginning of the show’s intro, there is a presentation that says “HBO & Sesame Workshop” which apparently means that HBO minority produced. That source from Paste Magazine, and you say that paste magazine is not a news source. Magazine is in the name, and magazines are sort of news. I just can’t believe you. - You really need to improve your attitude. If you don't want to engage with other users, leave Wikipedia. I'm going to address your two points below:
- "But the show ITSELF says it apparently did. Again, if you look at the beginning of the show’s intro, there is a presentation that says “HBO & Sesame Workshop” which apparently means that HBO minority produced." - I acknowledged that you said this above. I also said I haven't seen the show and can't say one way or another. I'm not discounting this, I'm just saying that I can't verify it. However, if it is true, saying that it implies HBO "minority produced" is probably WP:OR.
- "That source from Paste Magazine, and you say that paste magazine is not a news source. Magazine is in the name, and magazines are sort of news." - I didn't say that Paste Magazine wasn't a news source. I said that the article was an opinion piece - the website has the article in its "Reviews" section. Even then, my qualm is less to do with whether this was a news piece or not, but more with the fact that the source does not expressly state that HBO produced the series. I have this qualm because WP:NOR requires that published sources "directly support the material being presented," which requires an express statement by the source.
- That's my view of the matter; others may disagree and I am open to hearing them or having them override me here (because that's the way consensus works on Wikipedia). But let me reiterate my first point – you need to improve your attitude and engage with other users in a civil manner or else no one is going to take you seriously. - Well, 1. as I told you before, I am very sensitive about my work here. I have been in too much stress in my life. Reverts like these that happened before just comes at me in my mind and try to resolve it. 2. I can’t leave Wikipedia. I love to look around here, and I create articles that I’m interested in creating. And I check every moment in my watchlist for new and important edits. I can’t control my temper. That’s because I have too much stress in my life. HappyINC (💬) 01:17, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
Television needs production section|custom page name
[edit]I have additional information regarding members of production that I would like to add to the page (infoblox), because it is not in the template I am unable to simply add. I'd like to add Supervising Music Producer, Supervising Producers and Supervising Creative Producer. Does anyone know how I can go about adding? MelanieSonshine (talk) 20:03, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
