Erotic vs. Pornographic

[edit]

How is "erotic comics" necessarily different from "pornographic comics"? There's no generally agreed criteria for the difference between erotica and pornography, and the distinction is generally in the eye of the beholder. 惑乱 分からん 23:02, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agree - I concur that until a definite distinction between "erotic" vs "pornographic" is made, then the subject matter as such in comics have no distinction and warrant a merging of articles. However, it will require an editor with more understanding of the process and procedures of when/how articles should be merged. I will ask someone to consider this suggestion. Thank you.

I'm not sure what there is to merge. We don't have an article on pornographic comics, and cartoon pornography deals with animation, not print comics. On the relevant process, see Wikipedia:Merging. Huon (talk) 17:31, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay, I had to think on this question for a bit. My answer to this question is simple - Erotic comics is a single, or series of still images. Cartoon pornography puts several of said still images together to create motion. Thus, it would be implied that the animation aspect Cartoon pornography should be merged into the still image aspect Erotic comics, since all animation must begin with at least one still image. This could also just be simply an argument of academics, but that's my explanation whether anyone takes it up or not.

Don't keep turning on the {{help me}} bat signal. You've gotten a good answer from Huon and to get more interest from editors specifically interested in this question you'll need to use a WikiProject page or an RfC. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:29, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Animation and comics are two distinct media, produced by largely different industries. Trying to cover them both in a single article would have no advantages. -Jason A. Quest (talk) 20:02, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"New" article

[edit]

Once upon a time there were a stub article here, that was then redirected to Adult comics. Believing that the topic is sufficiently different – most comics for adults are not erotica – but that there was enough info specifically about erotic comics in that article, plus more that can be added from additional sources, I've "re"created this as an article. –Jason A.
