Notability of Ernie weckbaugh

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ernie weckbaugh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WAFrank (talk) 03:09, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ernie Weckbaugh needs to have a page in Wikipedia. As one of the few remaining Little Rascals of the OUR GANG COMEDIES of the 1930s, he is a national treasure. He also makes some compelling arguments about the social environment of African-Americans and whites working together in the files in this article. Ernie has spent his entire life entertaining people through his films and, now, his book.

He is NOT one of the Little Rascals. He claims to have played "Stinky" from 1937-1941, but there never was a character named Stinky. He also claims that he was in a short in which they shot a scene of Farina going skinny dipping in a lake. Problem with that is Farina (who had got started in the first Our Gang shorts in 1922) had left the series in 1931, returning only once in 1933 for a cameo appearance. I think the man may be a fraud. At BEST he COULD HAVE been a child extra in a few little rascals shorts. But not a featured player. I think he just made up the rest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.112.43.249 (talk) 19:26, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
