Motto

[edit]

The motto as it stood was incorrectly transcribed from the Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia. Instead of "consumer" it should read "consumor." However, I should also note that the link to the House of Welf site (http://welfen.de/ErnstBek.htm) shows a picture of Ernest with another motto, albeit similar in meaning: "aliis servio; me ipsum contero." The German edition of this Wikipedia page (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_I._(Braunschweig-L%C3%BCneburg)) follows the motto given by the House of Welf site. For now, I will edit the nonsensical Latin "consumer" to "consumor" and note the alternate version. Additional thoughts on the matter are welcome.Jkellrmn (talk) 19:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
