List

[edit]

This list of past commodores was moved from the main page to this page in the event that it would be appropriate to put it in the main page again (if suitably edited and cleaned up). Upon further review, it appears that most of this text was copied from the club's [history page] on their website. Tangurena (talk) 00:49, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of the oldest yacht clubs on the Great Lakes

[edit]

I found a list of the oldest yacht clubs with YCA memberships. If we talk only about Lake Erie-based clubs, Put-In-Bay Yacht Club and Sandusky Yacht Club were both founded in 1894; Cleveland Yachting Club was founded in 1878; and Detroit has two clubs (Detroit Boat Club in 1839 - the oldest club -- and Detroit Yacht Club in 1868) on the Detroit River, which feeds into Lake Erie. Lake Ontario has Rochester Yacht Club. Lake Michigan has a couple of clubs in Chicago and one in Milwaukee. It doesn't appear that Erie Yacht Club is noteworthy as one of the oldest clubs on the lakes, and it is eightieth on the list of the 100 oldest clubs in the US. --Pat (talk) 05:59, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
