I had edited this article to note that Erie Basin is the homeport of New York Water Taxi, but this text was subsequently removed with a note in the edit summary that the company no longer goes there and it was probably not the homeport. Perhaps this was mixed up with service to the IKEA ferry landing (40°40′15″N74°0′48″W / 40.67083°N 74.01333°W / 40.67083; -74.01333), which is at a different location in Erie Basin; this ferry route was originally operated by New York Water Taxi and was subsequently taken over by NY Waterway. By homeport, I meant the location where the company's vessels are stored, such as how the homeport for NYC Ferry is located at Pier C in the Brooklyn Navy Yard (40°42′13″N73°58′36″W / 40.70361°N 73.97667°W / 40.70361; -73.97667). A review of historical imagery on Google Earth indicates that New York Water Taxi vessels have been stored at docks on the east side of the pier at 499 Van Brunt Street (40°40′22″N74°1′1″W / 40.67278°N 74.01694°W / 40.67278; -74.01694) from September 2002 through April 2024 (the most recent available). Here are three other references that mention New York Water Taxi's homeport as being located in Erie Basin:
"Derecktor Builds More Taxis". MarineLink. February 11, 2003. The water taxi fleet is moored at the New York Water Taxi homeport at the Beard Street Pier in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
