This paragraph, (two), mentions "long periods of hospitalisation", then "October 1941". If the German invasion of the Soviet Union started in late June 1941, that only gives him a few months to be "twice severely wounded" and to "require long periods of hospitalisation".
I think this part of the article could be better worded.
