According to documents in the National Archives of Australia, Erich Liffmann was not born in Herrath, Germany, but in BECKRATH, Germany.
Also: his mother's name was MATHILDE, not Martha.
I would be most interested to learn more about the sources of this article, especially concerning Liffmann's musical education and his activity in 1947.

My name is Kurt Liffman. Erich Liffmann was my father. According to my records, my father was born in Herrath, which is near Beckrath. My great grandfather was, however, born in Beckrath. It is possible that this is where the confusion may be sourced. With regards to my grandmother's name. My father said it was Martha, but this may be a trick on my memory. I don't recall Mathilde. I have many of my father's records, his autobiography and many of his newspaper clippings. I intend to put up some of his songs soon on Wikipedia.
