This new article on Canadian chess Grandmaster Eric Hansen has received a notice of potential speedy deletion, which will possibly be decided today. As one of the authors of the article, I believe that the subject is clearly sufficiently notable, as 2012 champion of the Canadian Open (a national open championship which has been run since 1956), and the highest scorer for Canada at the recent Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, among other achievements, to merit an article on wikipedia. I have refined the material in the article on several occasions in the past few days, including today, to make it flow better, cutting back and / or removing overly wordy sections. Additional information on his tournament successes may be available, and I will endeavor to include this as well. Where do you see a notice of speedy deletion? Sasata (talk) 23:23, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it was the photo of Eric which was served with a deletion notice; I see that it is now gone. Wiki doesn't allow the use of copyrighted material on its site, so that is probably what it was. The rest of the article seems fine. FrankEldonDixon (talk) 19:04, 21 September 2012 (UTC) 19:04, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, ok. I will check my photo archives, I probably have a similar photo taken at the same tournament (Lloydminster 2010). Sasata (talk) 19:20, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and check for a similar photo of Eric and post it if you can find one. Sorry for taking so long to reply. FrankEldonDixon (talk), 22:53 GMT, 24 October 2012 FrankEldonDixon (talk) 21:53, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hikaru Nakamura

[edit]

I wish we could/would say more about Hikaru. But I guess what we got so far is good already.
