Problematic paragraph

[edit]

The paragraph I've removed here is problematic. First and foremost, Smart Company, the Eureka Report and Business Spectator are not distinct online businesses. Smart Company is a publication of Private Media (a company Beecher is a major shareholder in), and the Eureka Report and Buisness Spectator are publications of Australian Independent Buisness Media. The fact that there are basically no sources third party sources for this is probably an indicator of the subject's notability. The sentences associating Beecher with alleged plagiarism at Business Spectator should probably be reviewed as well. The article outlining them quotes Beecher once, but there's no suggestion of him playing any special role in the affair. Such content might be added to the Business Spectator article, but is inappropriate here.  -- Lear's Fool 13:23, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Beecher is WikiNotable

[edit]

I see that the article is currently tagged {{notability|Biographies|date=December 2011}}. Beecher is in fact notable because of his impact on digital news publishing here in Australia, especially when his earlier career in traditional newspapers is taken into account. I'm not going to go and search for sources (full disclosure: I am Not A Fan), but tonight's Media Watch episode provides some WikiReliable info about him and cites him repeatedly as an authority on news publishing.
