Talk:Enigma, Georgia
Wow. Does anyone know how this town got its name? Brasswatchman July 30, 2005 4:32 PM EST. I am currently studying my family tree and have found out some interesting information on Enigma. The story that has been passed down four generations is that the town received its name from my great grandfather Dr. John Hammond. I asked both my parents and their recollection was the same and they both said it was common knowledge when they were children. I don't have anyone else to ask now about who the Dr. Parker was because I know Granddaddy Hammond was definitely the town doctor as well as Baptist preacher. What was never spoken of before, probably because it was just one of those things you didn't discuss with other people, was that he was the seventh son of a seventh son of a 13th son of a baker's dozen and had healing powers. My mother even shared of her personal healings she had recieved from him as a child after getting severe burns on her legs after catching on fire from the stove.
