Capitalization of the name

[edit]

Hi, Renata. I fully agree that in Lithuanian the name should be capitalized Energijos skirstymo operatorius. However, I don't know if it applies also to Lithuanian company names in English. The company website itself capitalize the name Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius in English and also some other English sources capitalize the name. The same applies also to Lietuvos energija versus Lietuvos Energija. Is there any naming convention in Wikipedia dealing with this issue? Beagel (talk) 09:10, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am not aware of any guidelines/discussions on this. Quick search revealed this WP:NCCAPS: If the article is about a work of art (...) with a title in a foreign language, or by a foreign language creator, usually the capitalization found in English-language reliable sources is recommended, but when such sources use different capitalizations there is some leaning towards the capitalization rules valid for the language of the creator. But I find this English-style capitalization exceedingly irritating. You either go fully English (i.e. translating company name to something like Energy Distribution Operator) or you stick with Lithuanian. Renata (talk) 16:15, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
