En primeur outside of Bordeaux
[edit]The article states "the wines most commonly offered en primeur are from Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône Valley and Port", citing The Wine Doctor's glossary as a source. Perhaps I'm confused today, but doesn't this seriously overstate the frequency of non-Bordeaux en primeur trading? Is it really more than a very marginal phenomenon outside of Bordeaux? I know one top Rhône producer who offers wines en primeur, but don't think I've ever seen Burgundy wines sold en primeur. On preorder, by strict allocation, only to long-standing importers - for sure - but actually sold by the producer as a future before bottling??? Or does the wine trade in certain countries use the term "en primeur" as a synonym to preorder or preorder+prepayment in general, even in cases when they don't actually own the wine themselves? If so, I think we may need to expand the article to include this usage. Tomas e (talk) 13:40, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
