@Tamfang: I don’t know what it’s supposed to mean, either. For an ordinary like a fess or a bend there’s no inside or outside; you need a reference direction to decide whether something is concave or convex. But see Parker’s note about the rarity of embowed/courbé devices in English heraldry at Embowed, of which the above may be a garbled representation (mistaking disuse for use of the kind opposite to that depicted).—Odysseus1479 05:01, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
