Pivot/line player?
[edit]How about using the term "line player" instead of Pivot? I think it's more informative to people not familiar with English handball terminology, and just as right. --Pinkerton (talk) 11:30, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- I used the term pivot because that is the term used in the supported reference (the IHF site where the all-star team of the olympic tournament is announced). The term line player is not found in my ordinary dictionaries. In handball terminology it seems that pivot and line player are equivalent, but as a non-expert myself I will not speculate which term is "best" understood by those unfamiliar with the terms – for instance may a "line player" or a "pivot" have completely different roles in other sports. I think we should at least keep the term "pivot", or eventually use both terms, "pivot/line player", in the specific context of the all-star team. Note also that the article will probably be listed on the main page in about five hours from now (the DYK section), with a hook that contains the phrase "(...) selected as the pivot on the tournament's All-star team". Hopefully the article will be further improved or expanded due to the wider exposure. Oceanh (talk) 20:53, 29 August 2008 (UTC).
- Yeah that'd be great. It'd be good to have up a poster looking for a pic before it got the exposure. I'm a little pressed this weekend unfortunately. :) --Pinkerton (talk) 14:44, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
