This is either vanity or it is not noteworthy since countless people served in WWII and with no other distinction, we have to assume it is one of those two options. MicahMN | Talk 05:16, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

"He was ER's favorite son." Removing this because a) he is ER and b) there isn't proof that Elliot was FDR's favorite son. User:PBuG

The ER this quote is refering to is Eleanor Roosevelt, and there are many quotes to that effect that he was her favorite son. User:Enosfam

Actually, he had an interestng career. But this entry is quite confusing; was he a pilot or wasn't he? In fact he had a civilian pilot's license, but was not officially a certified military pilot. Despite this he did take the controls of aircraft at times, and once brought home a seriously damaged B-24. --Al-Nofi 01:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Contradiction

"He flew a P-38 Lightning in the North African campaign of November 1942. He attained the rank of Brigadier General in 1945, causing some controversy as virtually all others who had made general in the Army Air Corps were pilots."

If he wan't a pilot, how did he fly a P-38? They had a crew of one. Grant | Talk 10:47, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Howard Hughes

Nothing in this article about Roosevelt on the receiving end of wine, women and song paid for by Howard Hughes and company? It was a scandal uncovered by Senate investigating committee.

Well, there was more about this kerfuffle than I had anticipated. I just about doubled the size of the article in adding it. Binksternet (talk) 00:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Witness to Kennedy death

I removed some contradictory text added by an IP address from Winnipeg. Here's the removed text:

  • There is no evidence in official USAAF documents among the Aphrodite Project files at the USAF Historical Reserch Agency, Maxwell AFB, AL, that Roosevelt participatged in these secret missions. He did NOT fly the single chase Mosquito that filmed the tragic death of Joeph P. Kennedy Jr.; the aircrew flying the Mosquito was Lts. Robert Tunnell and Daniel McCarthy

There are several high quality accounts which place Roosevelt in the Mosquito photographic recon plane following Kennedy:

At the same time, Elliott Roosevelt was not known for his steadiness and reliability. Perhaps he fabricated the story and it was repeated many times. The book Aphrodite: Desperate Mission does not mention him at all. At any rate, to counter the sources listed above there will need to be a very strong cite saying he was not on the mission.
