"Sophy prescribed the antipsychotic drug Risperidone ..." Please change "Risperidone" to "risperidone". It's a generic name that should not be capitalized. 203.211.104.189 (talk) 17:04, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Scroll onto the police report on page 58. It literally says: "Results of toxicology tests revealed evidence of caffeine, benzodiazepines and alprazolam present within the body". Why would the police also put Benzodiazepines in their report instead of just caffeine and Xanax?! Shoot for the Stars (talk) 22:33, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
alprazolam has additional unique metabolites, it is a benzodiazapine (which is a class of drug, so metabolites for it would be a wildcard indicator, in this case, it would be from the alprazolam). If you look at the article for risperdone, it isn't capitalized in generic use. DarmaniLink (talk) 04:01, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Before commencing his attacks, Rodger took Xanax and Benzodiazepines.Xanax (Alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine. Other than the first source (92), the other sources only state Xanax. You can cross reference the other articles (or even just ctrl-f, its extremely notable as a benzodiazapine) for their sources. This seems in the spirit of WP:CALC.
After doing some research, you are right. I have removed it from the article. I am confused as to why the police would put alprazolam and benzodiazepine on the report instead of just alprazolam. Shoot for the Stars (talk) 14:01, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They may have meant diazepine which is sometimes referred to benzodiazepine. However if the sources say benzodiazepine and alprazolam then it is obviously redundant stating benzodiazepine. TarnishedPathtalk02:32, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To generalize, It has to do with toxicology. Benzodiazepine is a class of drug, so every benzodiazepine (Clonazepam, Temazepam, Lorazepam, Nitrazepam, Flurazepam etc.) has a similar structure, though different molecule and therefore additional metabolites unique to that compound. So basically toxicology saying "Results of toxicology tests revealed evidence of caffeine, benzodiazepines and alprazolam present within the body." is them just listing off everything they found metabolites for (presumably benzophenones as the non specific indicator). DarmaniLink (talk) 02:34, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
According to WP:RS, Questionable sources are those with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight. Considering that Rodger's autobiography was essentially self-published and written at a time when he was mentally unstable, it should at least be attributed every time it's the primary source for a claim. I don't think it's enough to just mention that it exists near the end of the article.
(responding to ping) We have no need to attribute when reliable secondary sources cover his manifesto. We only need to attribute when we directly reference his manifesto. TarnishedPathtalk06:25, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
