Addition of information about Gilels' children in this article

[edit]

I keep removing the "dynasty" section because this is supposedly a biography of Elizabeth Gilels, not a genealogical article about her progeny. This seems like a sneaky attempt to create an article about non-notable people who fail WP:BIO by adding them into an article about a person who is arguably notable, but I keep getting reverted. I request outside opinions. Corvus cornixtalk 20:22, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Corvus, if you are a commited wiki contributor, you would see how much I have contributed. And calling my article sneaky is rather adolescent of you. The dynasty of Leonid Kogan and his wife Elizabeth Gilels, is an important one in the music world. Leonid Kogan is described in all of the history book, and encyclopedias as a legendary violinist. His wife is from the same circles and is considered one of the great pedagogues of the Soviet School. Her teacher ABRAM ILICH YAMPOLSKY is a world renowned pedagogue of the Soviet School of Violin. These figures of the music world have earned the right to these titles. Every known book mentions them in these terms.

If you have issues, look them up to confirm your reservations. But please, stop belittling the legendary musicians and pedagogues by taking out the superlatives that they have earned in history.

Would you call Einstein just a Scientist? MerciMilliot (talk) 22:51, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Einstein isn't stuffed into an article about his grandfather. If you have reliable sources to prove that her descendants are notable, then they should have their own articles. If they don't meet notability standards, then they shouldn't be snuck into their ancestor's biography. Corvus cornixtalk 23:01, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And please also read WP:NPOV. Those superlatives are not appropriate for a neutral biography. What's there is excessive, as it is. Corvus cornixtalk 23:02, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
