About dementieva career
[edit]Acording to Matt Cronin Dementieva "is arguably the best woman on tour not to have won a Slam" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.28.32.187 (talk) 17:21, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit]the atricle says dementieva has won 10 titles, and then admits that only four
Pronunciation
[edit]Could someone put an IPA pronunciation of her name please? I know nothing about russian, but by the current pronuntiation key (yi-LEN-ah di-MENT-yi-vuh) I think it is something like i.ˈle.na di.ˈmen.tʲi.vɐ --TigerTjäder 18:24, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]This is rather inconsequential, but I think some more current and flattering pictures of Elena could be used. The main picture is especially not flattering, and an action shot of tennis seems more appropriate.
I agree completely--I'm sure Elena would cringe if she saw this photo.
I second!
It should be changed — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.81.223.66 (talk) 13:24, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Article name
[edit]Why is the article moved from "Elena Dementieva" to "Yelena Dementieva"? Isn't "Elena" the right spelling? Vanjagenije 22:50, 27 June 2007 (UTC) "Elena" is the letter-by-letter transcription of the Russian (cyrillic)original. It so happens that the cyrillic letter "E" is often (and in this case) pronounced "ye". Thus "yelena" is an attempt at rendering the pronuntiation in Russian.
Singles & doubles tables
[edit]Will whoever it is changing her singles table back to that ugly, tacky color table STOP? It's all being renovated that "Tier II" whatever nonsense in just one year, PLUS it looks better and more professional without all the ugly colors clashing.
Please. I have spent tons of time on this page over the past year and I consider myself the unofficial caretaker of it. The tier of her titles are unimportant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.59.32.158 (talk) 15:00, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Trivia
[edit]The article says this:
Some fans affectionately refer to her as "DD", which stands for "Double faults Dementieva". In recent years, many fans have become Dementieva fans simply because they respect how hard she works to win matches due to such a major flaw (her serve) in her game, and that she can remain a top player on a consistent basis.
I think it should be removed. It is not encyclopedia material. - FractalFusion 04:39, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis
[edit]There is a long, ongoing discussion at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found in tennis articles on English-language Wikipedia (e.g., this type of table). The discussion is about whether the "official sponsored name" of a tournament - such as Pacific Life Open - or another tournament name without the sponsor - such as Indian Wells Masters - must be used in those articles. Please join the discussion here. Thanks. Tennis expert (talk) 09:21, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Serve improvement
[edit]Without a reference or stats, this is hardly encyclopedic material. I would recommend removing that line in "playing style".
