El-Producto was not his "previous name"

[edit]

El-P has said in interviews that 'El-P' came first, originally as an abbreviation of 'Lyrical Punisher'. This is also backed up by the lyric on Company Flow's first single 'Juvenile Technique' – "Lyrical Punisher, El-P for short/And make a herb look stupid for the sake of the sport". Linked is an interview where El-P explains that "El-Producto" came later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.168.243.221 (talk) 13:05, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why is El-P controversial?

[edit]

Why is El-P controversial? The article says that he is controversial numerous times but doesn't go into any detail as to why he is controversial.

Birthdate

[edit]

I've been looking all over the internet for El-P's birth date but I can't seem to find it anywhere. 2 March 1975 is a qualified guess on my part. According to All Music Guide, El-P and Mr. Len formed Company Flow in 1992 after they had met at El-P's 18th birthday party. This would make 1974 or 1975 his birth year. He was born in March but I'm not sure if 2 March or 4 March is the correct date. If anybody can help out, even El-P himself, please do. Funkyvoltron 14:30, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I read 2 recent articles stating his age. One said 31 and the other 32. I know his birthday was recent, so that makes me say 1975..with one of the interviews conducted just before and the other after. There was also a "happy birthday, El" forum post on DefJunkies on 03/04/07- http://defjunkies.com/showthread.php?t=6785. Post was made by Alaska- I am guessing he probably knows his birthday.

If Company Flow was formed in 1992 and the members first met at El-P's 18th birthday party and El-P was born in early 1975, one of the three items has to be wrong.91.13.100.162 21:23, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming

[edit]

Should we rename this article El-P? Funkyvoltron 18:52, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think so. -Dayv (talk) 13:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

Why was the picture changed from File:El-p_promo2.jpg? I thought the first picture was fine, and it was a much better shot of El-P than the current one. The old picture seems to have its fair use and copyright tags all in order, so the change seems unwarranted.--Drewcifer3000 09:04, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is currently a link from Futurism (art) to this page. The editors of the Futrism (art) page have been discussing whether there is any relevency. Please explain why there should be an in link from Futurism (art)? otherwise we will delete it regardless. Mike Lawrence Turner 09:12, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed El-Producto from Futurism (art) article. Please provide input if this is disputed. Bus stop 13:08, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:CollectingTheKid.jpg

File:CollectingTheKid.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Hip Hop recording artist

[edit]

I just wanted to know why it says "hip hop recording artist" and not rapper, an editor reported me for vandalism because I changed it to rapper and said that it meant he's a rapper and producer. It is a very well known fact that he is a rapper and it is says in the article "and producer" So my question is why not call him a rapper, It's essentially synonymous and doesn't hinder or de-specify, in fact it's more specific. So why? PoofooP (talk) 02:23, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please diversify the causes you feel the need to spend this much energy on. He is a rapper, yes. We don't need to cite that. He is also a producer, thus two types of recording artist, why you would you change it to one? "Recording artist" covers both, ergo, it stays. The more general the term the better for the opening lines of an article. Detailed specifics about his rapping are, later, all over the page. Please also familiariaze yourself with the type of editor described at WP:ICANTHEARYOU. This is the 4th time I've explained this to you. JesseRafe (talk) 02:52, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You obviously have not read my response on your talk page which I wrote before this question, it explains my confusion and your flawed logic PoofooP (talk) 05:56, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
