Statement

The statement "Man On Fire has been made into four films in five different languages. [sic] So this is the Indian version. It has all the necessarily ingredients required for a movie to come out of India." is verifiably untrue, hence the "sic" - In fact there were two films and both were in English. One was a French/Italian production, and one is an American production. Counting Ek Ajnabee, there would be three films, with the Indian one being in Hindi and English.

Not sure if Indian or other sources bring this up. Here are characters parallel to those of the 2004 American film:

Samuel Ramos - Ravi Rathore
Rayburn - Shekhar Verma
- But Shekhar has an expanded role and is ultimately an antagonist
- Also Shekhar is not portrayed as having a wife, although Rayburn does have a wife
Miguel Manzano - Inspector Kelly
Mariana Garcia Guerrero - Kripa "Krispi" Shankar (somewhat)
- Krispi is a salesperson and is not a journalist, is introduced in the beginning of the film instead of after the middle, is not sexually involved with Kelly (like Mariana is with Manzano), he is not threatened with death after publishing materials (Krispi does not publish anything) - Krispi seems to be comic relief in parts
Victor Fuentes - ACP Harvinder "Harry" Singh
Mix of Jordan Kalfus and Aurelio Rosas Sanchez - Chang
- Chang is like Jordan Kalfus since he is Ravi's lawyer, like Kalfus is Samuel's lawyer
- In the 2004 film Samuel Ramos kills Kalfus out of retaliation for the failure, but Ravi does not kill Chang in this one.
- Like Aurelio in the 2004 film, the Creasy character (Surya) holds Chang hostage. Unlike Aurelio, the brother, Wong, double crosses him and has him killed
Daniel "La Voz" Rosas Sanchez - Wong
- In the 2004 film "La Voz" does not turn on his brother and call him a weakling
Sister Anna - Mrs. Sharma, the Indian teacher at Anamika's school

Mariana Garcia Guerrero has no equivalent I know of in the novel. Creasy, in the hospital, gets all of the newspaper clippings and has much of the research done beforehand. The Rosas Sanchez family has no known equivalent - instead a mafia hierarchy, with Cantarella at the head, is the ultimate antagonist
