More general application?
[edit]It seems to me that this principle is applicable more generally, possibly as a purely logical statement. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to think of how to go about researching it. When Carl Sagan, challenging some possibly pseudo-scientific assertion, said "-Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof,-" I'm sure he wasn't leaning on ths as a legal principle (although I wouldn't be surprised if the polymath knew the Latin phrase incidentally).
