Adding disputed information

[edit]

Hi editor with IP address 112.134.129.52 (and many others). I have noticed that you have been changing information on the article Edwin Wijeyeratne. which is fine by me. However you have been changing a subject that is slightly disputed. There are some sources that say that he was the home affairs minister and some sources that say he wasn't. So until we come to the bottom of this we should remove this from the page. Another thing I would like to point out is that you are using the incorrect format in the infoboxes, eg when you should use office1 you are using order1. This is not entirely your fault even I did this when I started editing wikipedia. This is due to the fact someone who started editing while back used the bad format and everyone copped since then. If you go to Template:Infobox officeholder you can find more accurate information. - LionCountry25 (talk) 02:55, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

LionCountry25: you have repeatedly removed referenced content from this article without explanation, and described its restoration as "vandalism". While there are sources that say he was home affairs minister, and you haven't provided any that say otherwise, the material should remain. Maproom (talk) 06:07, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Maproom, thanks for getting back, the ministry website mentions this [3], i'm not saying it's write or wrong but this creates a dispute(by the way I am aware that this creates a dispute in the high commissioner article as well). What I meant by vandalism is that the same editor had change the format of the article in the info boxes eg: using order1 instead of office1 - LionCountry25 (talk) 08:56, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
LionCountry25: if you believe there is a dispute, or inconsistency among sources, you should discuss it. Instead, you removed mention of the view that was supported by cited sources, and replaced but by a view supported by no cited sources (though, you now claim, supported by a source that you did not bother to cite). Do I need to point out that your behaviour was unreasonable?
Moreover, you claim that your accusation of vandalism was justified because the editor you were reverting had messed up the formatting of an infobox. You need to read Wikipedia's definition of vandalism. Maproom (talk) 20:23, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Maproom If the user had an account I would have gone straight to the account and mentioned it in the talk page, but due to the fact the user was not registered I was uncertain as to what to do. OK I shall admit the fact the word vandalism was not the best word to describe it. Regarding the references I did go and check it out but I could not find any information in it - LionCountry25 (talk) 08:39, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So you repeatedly removed referenced content from the article on the grounds that it was "vandalism", without being able to find any evidence for your contrary view. I think you should give up on this dispute. Maproom (talk) 20:33, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I did provide you with information didn't I?? - LionCountry25 (talk) 09:01, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't cite it in the article. That's what counts. Maproom (talk) 17:39, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK - LionCountry25 (talk) 12:13, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

LionCountry25: I believe that the article should be reverted back to its state after 220.247.194.146's most recent edit, before you started to remove referenced content. If you believe otherwise, you should

  1. explain why you believe those sources (whose citations you removed) should not be trusted
  2. explain what it should say instead, including references.

Maproom (talk) 08:43, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maproom: I think a better place to change it would be my first edit on 23rd July, because I haven't remove the disputed edits, while I have fixed the format of some of the information - LionCountry25 (talk) 09:08, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your first edit on 23rd July removed two references. Maproom (talk) 10:15, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
