Dates of death

[edit]

What source do we have for the dates of death for both men? The 1st source doesn't seem to list anything and is specifically about Edward. And further in this article it indicates Henry disappeared in 1871 in California, and Edward was last seen in 1885 in Geneva. Here is another source on Henry's disappearance: https://generalist.academy/2022/03/01/american-samurai-colony/

Having dates of death roughly 2 decades after the last known appearances of each in history seems odd. 63.79.131.242 (talk) 22:59, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding to what I posted above - The relevant update that added them was on 18:41, 29 May 2020‎. There are no notes with it and no sources added. After that it doesn't seem like it was ever questioned or sourced and I've been unable to find a source for it. The anime series "Meiji Gekken: 1874" creates a fictional version of Henry Schnell as the villain, which drew my interest to this article and to finding out when Henry Schnell actually passed away, though I don't know if that qualifies for the "depictions in media" section. It depicts the character's end ambiguously, 3 years after his disappearance from California, so I suspect they also couldn't find any information on him after 1871. I also didn't find anything after 1885 on Edward Schnell, though without the unique combination of his name with "Hiramatsu Buhei", he is harder to find sources for as the Schnell brothers' names are common. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.79.131.242 (talk)
