I believe I addressed the question of notability, and longevity of his career with the addition of quotes. If this is not satisfactory, please advise -- he is clearly a noteworthy person.

As for neutrality -- I am a neutral party; I am not related to the subject, I'm not from Delaware, Missouri, or Texas, I'm not in the lumber business, and I am not acquainted with anyone related to him or in the lumber business who could influence me.

While reading the reference which I have immediate access to seems to suggest that he was respected in his trade, please note that the general notability guideline indicates that for a subject to be notable enough to have its own article, it should have significant coverage in sources independent of the subject; while I don't feel that this article's notability is in question to the extent that it should be speedily deleted per CSD A7, I do think that this should be better established before removal of the notability tag.
As for neutrality; please note that I'm not suggesting a conflict of interest here, but the article needs to be phrased such that the coverage of the topic is neutral. I am specifically referring to your use of terms such as "great" and "notable" (without justifying the "notable").
By the way, please remember to sign talk pages with four tildes (~~~~) in future.
