Error

"The College of Education was founded on Cottingham Road (in 1916, and was initially mostly female.)"

No, it was opened in 1913, with twice as many men as women, but with the war the number of men dwindled down to none. ( See the 50 year history of the college, published in 1963: "The First Fifty Years," Cyril Bibby )
