Hello to everyone who has helped build this page and thanks to all. I like to add a note of correction on the date of death on this page. The entry on the top of Edna Purviance page has the wrong date of death. Edna Purviance died January 13, 1958, as stated on her official State of California Certication of Vital Records.

That same California state document does have the wrong year of birth, but glad to see the right birth date of October 21, 1895 on Edna's Wikipedia page. I have found documents in Nevada showing her birth on October 21, 1895. - thanks... ednasworld

Yeah the article was kinda iffy till I tinkered with it. That got things rolling. Couldn't do it w/o info from your website though. Cheers, --Madchester 08:57, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Madchester for writing and for working on this page too. Don't know how to get the date changed on the top, but wanted to at least see if we could correct. In the future more updating can be done, but right in the middle of important Edna project(s) at the moment... Thanks for getting this page rolling... Cheers to you too! I removed the piece added recently of Edna Purviance being in walk on parts for the films Monsieur Verdoux and Limelight. Those are rumors that were started years ago and because of a lack of information about Edna's past after her film career, the rumors have stayed around for years and has been written into some books about Charlie Chaplin. After researching Edna's life for eight years and meeting members of her family, and studying the film pieces involved, Edna Purviance was not in these films. - User:ednasworld

Yes, I agree -- it appears that indeed she was not in these films. However, she is listed in filmography. I will change that to read -- "in dispute -- possible cameo.)--Tomstoner 14:09, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your feed back... The rumor has been around so long, it has made it into many books, but it is just rumors from people who had no real evidence. - User:ednasworld April 19, 2006 she was a great actor

Still see you have the WRONG information on Edna Purviance's date of her death. Hopefully you can get the correction added. It was January 13, 1958. The official date on State of California official records. User:ednapurviance September 8, 2011 —Preceding undated comment added 14:49, 8 September 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Acknowledging Chaplin's half-brother?

[edit]

Charlie had a half-brother, Wheeler Dryden, who was working in India when he realized that the newly-popular filmstar was his kinsman, and wrote to him at the studio to try to make contact. As Chaplin was being inundated with bogus charity-appeals, he ignored the letter. But apparently it was Purviance who felt it was genuine, and persuaded Charlie to investigate further. The two eventually met, and Charlie employed him on-and-off for years. Valetude (talk) 23:16, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
