Soft Rock

[edit]

We should decide whether Soft rock should be included in their genres. I haven't seen anywhere where they are labeled Soft rock. Hard rock, Heavy metal, Power metal have all been used to label Edguy, but Soft rock hasn't, please cite a source for this genre to be included. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.98.201.211 (talk) 20:57, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Snowflake you reverted when an edit would better serve. --DB0 14:21, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if that seemed harsh. I simply got used to reverting changes by means of the rollback button. I should have used more tact. Again, I am sorry. --Sn0wflake 21:03, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. You will see that I have reverted to my version with your format guidelines, so all's well :) --DB0 22:07, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

no drastic changes?

[edit]

In my opinion, the sentence "However no drastic consequences have occurred to their style." should be changed. It was probably written before the album Rocket Ride came out, and for sure Rocket Ride seems to me like a pretty drastic change (compared to Theater of Salvation for example). What do you think? Could someone write a bit about the last album? --IronChris 04:36, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

how is their name pronounced is it "ed guy" or is it suposed to be "edgy"?

It's ed-guy. Like the name "Ed" and the word "guy" :P Not too sure how that works out in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). --IronChris 16:39, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Impartial?

[edit]

"With their uncomplicated easygoing melodies and Sammet's high voice, Edguy is representative of typical European power metal."

In my humble opinion, the sentence above is not 100% impartial, and it may be considered a critique of some sort. Is there anyone who actually thinks the same? —Preceding unsigned comment added by M3TALL1CA2000 (talkcontribs)

I agree that it isn't 100% encyclopedic. Maybe a more suitable wording would be something like "the melodies allied to Sammet's high-pitched voice make Edguy a rather typical example of European power metal". Well, that's a first shot anyway! IronChris | (talk) 18:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I changed it to "Edguy employs uncomplicated easy-going melodies, combined with Sammet's high voice which is typical of European power metal." I believe this wording implies that the high voice is typical of power metal only. The other version, to me, made me think it was saying that "uncomplicated easy-going" melodies were typical of European power metal! That's quite a wide sweeping claim which I'm sure is pretty dubious, so I reworded it to reflect the high voice only. --Dayn 11:14, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

The singer sounds like a cross between Bruce Dickinson and the guy from Queensryche. ---Original research — Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.2.247.30 (talk) 06:56, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

I add a {{refimprove}} tag to this page. There are only three referenced links, two of which are self-links, and I waited for five minutes for the Metal Storm link to come up before I gave up. Nothing in the article indicates where any of the information comes from, and it needs to have references for its claims. Corvus cornix 23:19, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This has finally been addressed. :-) --Managerpants (talk) 12:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Biography

[edit]

The last paragraph of the Biography section, telling the story about Kreator, isn't really biographical, if you ask me. It's more of a trivia type factoid or anecdote. I think it should be placed under a seperate section for consistency purposes. Jasontk (talk) 03:32, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article has needed cleaning up for a long time, so I finally took care of it. It still needs more information, but it at least looks a little better now. I removed the Kreator story altogether, since trivia is generally discouraged on WP. --Managerpants (talk) 12:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Monuments is not just a compilation album

[edit]

Monuments consists of a DVD, two live CDs and two studio CDs. It doesn't fit within a single category, so it's best to stick to the definitions. Five songs is enough for an album to classify as a studio album, and it also being a compilation album does not contradict this. --Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 06:33, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if there were just 4 new songs, would it still be enough to be considered as a studio album? What is the real frontier? It is usual that compilations also include new material. Monuments is obviously an album prepared by group to celebrate their 25th Anniversary. From this point of view it's a common compilation. Why don't you place it also into Live album section? Look at the other rock/metal bands' pages, it is never done this way. Each record is always placed only into one subcategory. If it is a pure live record, it goes into Live, if it is a regular studio album it goes into Studio albums etc. And if it is a mixture, it belongs into COMPILATION subcategory. No need to argue. Why do you insist on expanding the Studio album section so hard?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.103.199.146 (talk) 22:52, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. Let's end this argument and wait and see what the band itself classifies Monuments as. --Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 06:30, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The band seems to consider Monuments as a studio album. As it also meets the "official" definition by having more than four songs, I believe that's the end of this discussion. --Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 16:41, 29 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please give me the source of the "official" definition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.103.214.23 (talk) 11:17, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Album#Length. --Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 11:21, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is only one thing than can be read in the article - Monuments is not a single. It means it doesn't say Monuments is a NEW album. It meets all criteria of a compilation. So there is no argument for placing it among regular studio albums. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.103.214.23 (talk) 11:52, 1 November 2017 (UTC) Last but not least, as for your note concerning what band itself considers Monuments to be: look at their official homepage, sheet MUSIC - it clearly shows Monuments is among OTHER RELEASES, not ALBUMS. From my point of view, this is the definite end of this discussion. http://www.edguy.net/eng/music.php?section=other — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.103.214.23 (talk) 12:10, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That's odd, as Sammet has repeatedly insisted that Monuments is a new album, but alright. --Mikrobølgeovn (talk) 15:09, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Tobi would be a good marketing specialist (he would do everything to earn more money), but that's a different story :). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.103.214.23 (talk) 16:59, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dirk has lead guitar for a few songs according to Nuclear Blast Records, Their website, and other reliable sources. Can I add it to the band members and timeline? Brandon mr Anxiety (talk) 17:33, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
