Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Yes
  • Interesting: Yes

QPQ: Done.

Overall: The date is superfluous but still acceptable either way, good to go. Sahaib (talk) 18:36, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Sahaib and EytanMelech: Detecting WP:CLOP and direct copying. Also the given article says estimated 250k. Lightburst (talk) 00:55, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean direct copying? I wrote the article, and I created a DYK that closely resembles a fact found in the article. Feel free to amend it if you feel that it has issues. I do not know what you want. EytanMelech (talk) 00:57, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lightburst: Wikipedia:earwig currently says 54.5%. I should have done a better review of this, I'll probably edit some of the words myself to reduce the number. Sahaib (talk) 04:58, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: I have reduced the number to 36.3%. Sahaib (talk) 05:50, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sahaib and EytanMelech: Thanks, I do not think it is right yet. The intro is too much of a direct copy of this. I hope it gets sorted, and we also have to change the hook as I said above about "estimated". Lightburst (talk) 00:01, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Considering that that initial paragraph was written in 2016, and there is no archive of the link you gave regarding similarity before 2020, I think it is probably safe to say that the quoted source copied Wikipedia's entry, which is not unheard of for many aggregative websites. I will promote this. I have addressed the 250k and placed a US tag on the $.
