[edit]Hello, I'm going to be doing some work on this page in the coming weeks. It seems important to have this book represented and represented distinctly from Hedy Lamarr's main bio section here on wikipedia. It is a significant historical document, being somewhat of a ground-breaker for the sensationalist autobiographies of later years and involved in a court case in which the judge described it as "filthy, nauseating, and revolting", (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/hedy_lamarr/biography.php), which may be surprising to modern readers given its relative tame-ness.
There is of course the question of how much is true and therefore sound biographical information on Lamarr, how much information she purposefully changed (such as her birth date), which gives insight into her character, her view on other celebrities - quite a strident view expressed on Ingrid Bergman here and how much was sensationalised therefore gives an indication of what kind of material would be suitably salacious as to stimulate outrage (and sales) in that era.
Naturally, happy to have any other contributors / editors involved NorthLondoner (talk) 12:17, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there, I'm the one that added the notability tag to the article yesterday. I didn't have much time to do more than a cursory search for info relating to this book, so perhaps naturally, I didn't find too much, but reading your rundown of it above, I think there's something going for it after all.
- I've replaced the notability tag with one calling for copy-editors to help out with the articles styling and formatting, and I'll try to help by keeping an eye out for ways I can improve the article too, albeit in a relatively minor role. Hopefully with a little help, you can turn this into a great article! KaySL (talk) 15:20, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- Excellent KaySL - thank you for your contribution and above input. I will look forward to working on this project with you and be grateful for your support towards making it into a great article! NorthLondoner (talk) 17:15, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
