[edit]Was the town of Echizen created or did it existed in the past and later absorbed the three municipalities to be what it is now? jlog3000 (talk) 15:05, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- ja:越前町#.E6.B2.BF.E9.9D.A9 shows that the name Echizen first appeared for this particular area in 1955 when the town of Yotsugaura (四ヶ浦町) merged with the village of Shirosaki (城崎村). The name Echizen was kept following the 2005 merger. -Amake (talk) 09:08, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
