Benny Hill

[edit]

The part about the Road name etc needs a date and maybe a reference. Anyone have them? MyNameIsClare talk 15:51, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps a mention that Benny Hill was a Milkman in Eastleigh, working at Hans Dairies. There is a plaque in the Shopping Centre to this effect. In his record 'Earnie' Benny made reference to streets in Eastleigh as well.Bettybutt (talk) 02:39, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Population

[edit]

Anyone got any idea of the population of the town? The 117,000 figure quoted is for the wider borough. Marky-Son 11:28, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

notable residents

[edit]

they are spread around the article, perhaps they should be put together and ordered chronologically?

Pluto pipeline

[edit]

No mention of the Pluto pipeline being made at Pirelli, where the Factory stood is a housing estate, one road called Pluto (Close?)Bettybutt (talk) 02:42, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pluto Road [1] - any info out there? Pterre (talk) 11:28, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A Google search for "Pluto pipeline Eastleigh" doesn't bring much up, but I only looked through the first page of (ten) results. waggers (talk) 20:20, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You may find this link useful. It's a pdf file, published by Visit Southampton, with a line (on page 5) about Pirelli’s factory at Eastleigh and it's involvement in the manufacture of the P.L.U.T.O. pipeline, during WW II. Marek.69 talk 21:55, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article plagiarised by by-election candidate

[edit]

Ther Conservative candidate in the 2013 by-election, Maria Hutchings, has been accused of plagiarising this article for her campaign website. [2] How should we deal with this in both of these articles? RolandR (talk) 08:25, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The web page in question is here (archive copy). There's nothing wrong with copying the text from this page verbatim as long as it is properly credited, which in this case it is not (See WP:REUSE for more info on this). There is a contact email address on the website - I'll send them an email directing them to WP:REUSE and telling them their website as it stands breaks the law. I'll let you know what response I get. For the record, here's what I sent to Michael Hantman (from the contacts page [3]):
