It's not over yet in East Syria
[edit]When ISIL's pocket in the desert is destroyed and several settlements between Al-Mayadin and Al-Bukamal will be completed in East Syria.--Baba Mica (talk) 17:21, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
- This article is about the military operation that was initiated against ISIL in eastern Syria, not about the general fighting in eastern Syria that has been ongoing since 2011. There have been no sources confirming that the military operation continued after securing the stretch of towns along the western bank. It is not up to us to decide what is the aim of the operation without sources. EkoGraf (talk) 16:43, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
It is not yet the eastern coast of the Euphrates, because the Syrian Arab Army does not contradict the 100% right bank. There are several more villages under the control of ISIL between Al Mayadin and Al-Bukamal. The fact is that there is no major battle since December 6, but ISIL occasionally attacks the guerrilla way of the Syrian army from the desert.--Baba Mica (talk) 14:00, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- Operations on the eastern bank of the Euphrates are part of the SDF's operations. This article is about the SAA's campaign. No sources confirming the Syrian Army has any intention of capturing the eastern bank. Last report [1] regarding the situation on the western bank between the two towns you mention was that the SAA seized all of that territory. Currently there are no military operations active against ISIS which is confined in the western desert of Deir ez-Zor, nor are there any operations announced in the making. Guerrilla actions by ISIS from the desert were earlier predicted and they will most likely take place for years in the future. That does not make the military's campaign itself active. If an operation is started against ISIS in the desert that would warrant the creation of a new article. EkoGraf (talk) 15:39, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- I added the source regarding ISIS's defeat on the western bank to the article. EkoGraf (talk) 15:42, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
