I don't think the latest title moves were needed. The current title "Eastern Arabia" is more suitable to refer to Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia. As I see it, the scope of this article is not Eastern Arabia; it is about the Bahrain historical region, which included much of Eastern Arabia in addition to Awal island (current day Bahrain).[1][2] Region of Bahrain or Bahrain (historical region) would been more descriptive and accurate titles. Mohamed CJ(talk)12:05, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The entire coastal strip of eastern Arabia was called "Bahrain" for 10 centuries, even northern Oman. Can't it be titled "Eastern Arabia (region of Bahrain)" or something along those lines? "Bahrain (historical region)" or "Region of Bahrain" is confusing because "Bahrain" is well-known as the name of the modern GCC state. Eastern Arabia is more than just Bahrain (the country). But Awal island (current day Bahrain) is not a part of (Eastern) Arabia. It is situated to the east of it. Thus historical Bahrain is made of Eastern Arabia + Awal. Mohamed CJ(talk)09:13, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have a couple issues/questions concerning this article. Firstly, does anyone know the timeline for the use of 'Bahrayn' in reference to north-east Arabia? Clive Holes only mentions that it was in use for 10 centuries. Ibrahim Abu Nab (p. 57) claims that it was in use from the fourth century until the sixteenth century, after which the Portuguese reservedly used the name in reference to Awal. It is difficult to find direct references, so it would be appreciated if anyone could provide any authoritative references on the use of this name. Otherwise, I shall incorporate the information I have collected into the etymology section, which is incomplete as is.
Another issue is that the article is very one-sided in favor of the northern-eastern portion of Eastern Arabia. As far as I know, Oman and at least some portions of the United Arab Emirates were not included in the Bahrayn region. Clive Holes states that the region stretched only until the Qatar Peninsula. Maps seem to indicate the same. This makes sense considering that the terms 'Magan', 'Mazun' and 'Muscat' were used for south-eastern Arabia. Thus, I think it would be appropriate to split the history section into two separate parts. It currently gives the impression that south-eastern Arabia and north-eastern Arabia have identical histories, when in actuality there is very little, if any, information relating directly to south-eastern Arabia. Corrections or input are appreciated. Elspamo4 (talk) 04:48, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
