Lord Dunmore was royal governor of Virginia during the Revolutionary War.He was a Loyalist(Tory).
Remainder
[edit]Text states "As a male-line descendant of the first Marquess of Atholl he is also in remainder to this peerage and its subsidiary titles" Iirc the Dukedom has a remainder to the heirs male of the father of the 2nd marquess so the earl is in reminder. Can someone check the remainder? AllsoulsDay (talk) 16:14, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- This is correct per Burke's (1832). The Dunmore line appears to be the last remaining cadet branch in remainder to the Atholl dukedom, since the extinction of the Nairne line in 1837. Choess (talk) 15:38, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
