Consistency in numbering
[edit]The body text here, which is almost entirely lifted from the 1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica Ogilvy article, uses a presumably obsolete numbering system, The linked articles use two numbering systems, neither of which match that in the body. For example, David Ogilvy, 11th Earl of Airlie could be the 11th or 6th (as the father of the 12th or 7th) but is the 8th in the body. Although the article admits the numbering varies depending on whether to count attainders, could someone make an effort to introduce consistency between the text and the linked articles? I don't have enough knowledge to try that. David Brooks (talk) 03:02, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
1st Earl
[edit]"The 5th Lord Ogilvy's grandson, James Ogilvy (c. 1593–1666), was created Earl of Airlie ..."
According to the list below, his life dates were 1586–1665. --INS Pirat (talk) 15:51, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
John Ogilby
[edit]I have been revising the article about John Ogilby (1600 – 1676) who claimed to be brother to the first Earl. Editors of this article may be able to improve it further? 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 12:17, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
