Dubious claims
[edit]Criticism is welcome. ESADE has a history of been open and tolerant to other viewpoints. However the clearly obesessed contributor (I wonder from what religious sect you come from) that cites ESADE Board of Trustees as including non CSR friendly elements, has yet to name them. Put up or shut up. Also please show your identity, another trait coherent with the cowards that hide behind group and sect mentality. There is an anonymous contributer to this article that keeps putting in dubious claims about ESADE malpractice and obviously does not grasp the NPOV concept of Wikipedia. Also, it's goes far beyond the intention of this article. E.g. the alleged wrongdoings of other international firms don't belong here, but in their respective articles. As regards to the board of directors, I don't have a way to confirm that information. --Vikingstad 19:50, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Yep, I read the other guy's entry too but I've got to say it's much better than "Vikingstad"'s one. For a start, there is a logical thread to the "controversy" which is:
1. ESADE is highly ranked mainly because of its CSR activities (true, I checked it out).
2. ESADE's Board of Trustees (the guys running the show) includes a raft of corporations whose actions run against the whole CSR ethos (I checked that out too - it's a matter of public record, and the corporations appear on ESADE's own list of trustees).
3. ESADE features in the local media and gets regularly crititicized in the left-wing and libertarian press for its link-ups with Spain's less responsible corporates (true too, though - as you might expect - the material is in Spanish).
The viewpoint is represented as that of a critical minority - fair enough so long as the reader is allowed to reach his own conclusions and can check out sources.
The two things that hit me are: 1) ESADE gets high rankings largely because of the CSR content of its courses; 2) the corporates running ESADE do things that go directly against the whole concept of CSR. To my mind, that's pretty darned relevant. It's a bit like discovering that a vegetarian group is run by the Meat Packers Union, or that a pacifist organization is a front for the NRA.
Now, I reckon that NPOV isn't an excuse for redlining ("axing" in Vikingstad's case?) anything that is a tad controversial. If it were, most of the humanities articles in Wikipedia would read like a telephone directory. Cutting down the ESADE entry to student numbers and favorable snippets from league tables shouldn't be what Wiki is about - after all, you can find the institutional hype on the "official" ESADE web site. If Wikipedia just replicates that on a smaller scale, there's not much point in having a contributor-driven encyclopedia, is there?
Apart from Vikingstad's blanket invocation of NPOV to cut out relevant information, the editing also shows sloppiness (e.g. "higly" instead "highly", false contrast with "whereas").

- Hi. I see you have replaced my photo in the ESADE article with your own ridicolous version. I have reverted the article to my last edit, it is obvious that you have an agenda here. Wikipedia is NPOV, meaning we refer to facts, and unsupported conspiracy theories don't belong here. Also, criticism about other companies go in their respective areas. Also, disguising yourself as a supporter of yourself is very mature. Congratulations! You are exactly the kind of person that makes me doubt the concept of Wikipedia --Vikingstad 02:58, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

You obviously can't spell "ridiculous" and you are unwilling to accept photographic evidence. What's wrong with featuring the main building instead of the language school? Shouldn't things be shown as they are instead of as the publicist wants us to see them? Wikipedia should provide information enrichment, not impoverish our knowledge of the world. By the way, anyone who wants to see the "professional" (read "copyright") photos can go to the school's web site.
The "conspiracy" label is just a cheap way of dismissing the whole argument. What is relevant here is that ESADE claims the CSR high ground (for which it gets high ratings). The problem is that some of the institution's trustees play a very different game. This is a matter of public record, ranging from reports by Ohio's State Auditor to the World Bank. Surely it is reasonable to point this out and to link this to the CSR theme? The conclusions drawn by readers are their own affair - Wikipedia's job is to provide them with sufficient information to dig deeper (if they want to) and weigh up the conflicting evidence. Freedom and reliability of information is vital if Wiki is to flourish. Your approach smacks of the Spanish Inquisition and censorship and has nothing to do with NPOV. Perhaps you were thinking of the NKVD?

- So what exactly is your problem? I still left the criticism in the article, but it doesn't make sense to elaborate about the corporate scandals of other firms here. There is no evidence that ESADE has ANYTHING to do with these scandals. Just because they are on the board of trustess doesn't say anything. Arthur Andersen was an enormous firm, with thousands of clients. Why don't you go add your propaganda to those clients pages too? You have an obvious agenda here, and have some sour grapes with ESADE. The picture you replaced (which is not copyrighted or from a brochure, but my own picture), and the fact that you create an account and pretended to be another person to support your viewpoint just shows how way off the line you are. Create your own anti-ESADE website or something if you are so inclined to spread your propaganda! This surely doesn't belong here. --Vikingstad 17:29, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Enough for now...
[edit]Ok, I see you have added a couple of sentences now, and at least left the picture (which is not copyrighted). I'll leave it as it is now, although I feel the article is more critical than it should be. If you take Harvard University as an example they have a very good balance of facts and some well due criticism in it's own section. I am not for censoring information on Wikipedia, but at least we have make sure that things are as factual as possible and that it does not create a disproportionate distorted view of reality. --Vikingstad 18:12, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
the article is more critical than it should be What are you talking about? The whole article reads away like marketing brochure... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.251.137.192 (talk) 12:07, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
What about the faculty of law?
[edit]This is an exchange university with at least one major American law school, yet the article is obsessed with the MBA program. Balance, people --I would be bold but I need to fix up another article and I'm afraid I'll forget. --Bobak 20:01, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
ESADE Business School
[edit]Part of the initial ESADE article has been copied to the ESADE Business School article and to ESADE University Faculties in order to keep the article easy to read and give more details within related sections. ESADEbrigade 19:33, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
