Reliable independent sources needed badly!

[edit]

Once again, a noteworthy RPG author, Robert J. Schwalb, is being considered for deletion. As has happened before with various other authors, companies, and games, the ENnies get pointed to as a source of major awards in the industry, the ENnies are being challenged as a "major award".

To aid in the long term stability of multiple RPG industry/hobby related articles, I think it is important that we find reliable sources covering the ENnies.

I have found some articles on GeekNative.com and OgreCave.com, but those may be challenged as not-significant.

In its day, GamingReport.com was significant (had paid reporters that it sent to GenCon at expense), but that operation has folded. Unfortunately, the only major gaming news organ that I can think of that took it place is ENworld, which is not independent of the ENnies. That being said, if anyone can find some vestiges of its ENnies coverage, that would be something.

I believe that Dungeon/Polyhedron had coverage of the ENnies during its print run; that is certainly significant. This is something I had planned to pursue myself given time. However, my personal time is scarce this week, so any help here is appreciated.

Finally, if anyone has any access to any hobby store magazines (like Game Trade magazine) that mentions them, those would be compelling inclusions.

Thanks for any assistance in this. - Sangrolu (talk) 12:20, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just found a reference in Dungeon 102/Polyhedron 161 and added to article. - Sangrolu (talk) 23:08, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Awards need to be converted to tables

[edit]

I didn't find any copy editing issues, but the list of awards in its current format is very messy. I converted the 2021 awards into a table but it's a pretty labor intensive process so I'll need to get through the rest in chunks. Nben7070 (talk) 20:29, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It honestly seems that the list is in dire need of WP:SPLITTING if the list is at all notable enough to be worth listing. Do the winners tend to receive any form of media attention? JTdaleTalk~ 08:58, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have seen a number of mentions of indivdual winners in disparate sources. What I did not see so far, was coverage of all/many winners collectively. Daranios (talk) 13:04, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Current problems with this article

[edit]

I just put all the awards into tables, and it is looking much cleaner. But I agree with @JTdale:, listing all the tables here does not seem like a good idea.

I am not familiar enough with this kind of pages, so I will let it to anybody else to decide where and how to move it. I hope having it into tables will make the task much easier, if we decide it is worth it to keep it. I will also mention that on External links there are actually internal links to the 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Just to consider. Perhaps all should be merged into one.

By the way I also changed the title, as it is no longer ENnie.

Let me know anything else I can do to help --AdrianHObradors (talk) 10:54, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Do we need separate articles for each year?

[edit]

Most are substub lists like 2001 ENnie Award winners. Prior to 2018 ENnie Award winners, they have no independent coverage cited, failing WP:GNG. How about merging them into a single list of ENnie Award winners? @Firefly @AdrianHObradors @Nben7070 @JTdale @Daranios Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:18, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

PS. @BOZ who created most of them. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:04, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some of them do have coverage from other websites, pinging @Sariel Xilo who probably knows more about that than I do. BOZ (talk) 07:18, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The page was this long when including only 4 years... imagine listing 20+ years here. BOZ (talk) 20:30, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since some latter years are independently notable, it is fair to consider that consistency recommends splitting all pages (and thank you for working on them). It would be good to try to find coverage of all the years to show notability. I tried and failed for early years, which creates a problem I am not sure how to solve. I guess we can invoke the classic WP:IAR and chose to keep seperate pages for consistency, even if the early years do not meet WP:NLIST?
