Philly Mayor Candidate
[edit]There is a Pennsylvania state rep with the same name running for mayor of Philadelphia in 2007. There needs to be a disambiguation or see also thing for Dwight Evans. Aardhart 05:17, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Removal of factual error re: Opening Day home runs
[edit]Just wanted to note that I removed a piece of misinformation in the article per this edit and this edit by an anon user (66.31.165.36). The article had said that Kaz Matsui tied Evans's record for earliest home run hit in a season (by pitches and at-bats, not dates) in 2004 while playing in the Mets' first game of the season. A quick check of Baseball Reference's box scores from 2004 indicates that this isn't true. For one thing, the first major league home run of the season was hit by Jason Giambi while the New York Yankees were in Japan to play the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays. That box is here. Matsui's home run came almost a week later in the Mets' first game of the year. Evans's home run came on the first pitch of the entire season, not the first pitch of Boston's season. The two aren't the same and Matsui did not, as I see it, tie the record. 66.31.165.36 left the misinformation in the article and inserted the correction in an additional sentence; I reverted those edits and simply removed the misinformation, and would like to give credit where credit is due for noticing the error.
