Fair use rationale for Image:DLI.JPG

Image:DLI.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Famous Fictional Member

As an amusing piece of trivia, it might well be worth noting that the egregious cartoon character Andy Capp served with this Regiment. In the earliest Capp cartoons, dating from the early 1950's, Andy is frequently to be seen wearing a British Army greatcoat with "D.L.I." distinctions on the shoulder. It is interesting to speculate about his service record... quite possibly George McDonald Fraser's immortal Private McAuslan would have had a rival for the position of Worst Soldier in the world! 86.177.210.142 (talk) 20:10, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

1944 image in Douet

A quick retitle of the image; the figure front centre appears to be an officer - wears a tie, has a Webley holster, carries binos, depsite the fact he also carries a STEN. Soldier to his right is a Corporal - two stripes visible on left sleeve. I retitled the image to reflect this. Are either of these men identifiable perhaps? Restructure

The article, which seems to be battalion orientated, has 4 battalion lists, 1 containing battle honours and 3 with various periods of history. I'll merge the history lists, so that each battalion is mentioned once and has its history in one place. I'll add a bit to the WW2 histories where I can. Comments welcome. I've done what I set out to do, and after looking at other regimental pages, I can see I could have done better. I'll give my fingers a rest first.

Rewrite

I hinted at a rewrite above and here it is. I even got an editor at work to check my English ("You need more commas, " she said, "and learn the difference between loose and lose!").
It may be a bit long according to the style guide, but thats what editors are for!
I've also written a new page Battalions of the D.L.I. for the small details of the component battalions. I'm sure theres lots I've missed, so happy editing.

Battle honours section: battle honours are awarded to the regiment, not individual battalions. This section looks artificial. Have you for a citation for this list? Hamish59 (talk) 21:11, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

That section was left over from the page version I first saw. I think it came from here:- http://www.lightinfantry.me.uk/dli.htm, I did some 'tidying up' on it to make it more logical (to my eyes anyway), it may not be correct by the protocol of these things. And you are right, honours are awarded to the regiment, this may be a bit too much detail. Do you know which ones went on the Colours? Usedtoknowthat (talk) 23:05, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
