Old discussion

Things this article could currently use:

  • An image with the game logo or a screenshot
  • Additional information from other interviews with the game developers. Also a few more links to external sources

The game is still in closed beta, so obviously information directly gathered from playing in closed beta can't be used without the author violating an NDA. There are probably additional public sources of information, though, that could be useful.

Dugwiki 20:41, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

The NDA is no longer in effect. Ispellsgud 00:13, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

there is a screenshot page on the playNC site I do believe, I dunno what hoops would have to be gone through for copyright consent, but it would contribute to the article 75.14.220.24 10:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Are we allowed to use a personal screenshot? Ex: if I take a pic of my character in game, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Duct tape tricorn (talkcontribs) 23:46, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I guess I'll add one eventually. If copyright is needed I will write to the DR developers, I think they would welcome the addition. Duct tape tricorn (talk) 01:42, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Game's NDA lifted?

I think the game's NDA was recently lifted and it's now in open beta. If someone can confirm that and make the appropriate changes to the article, that'd be great. Dugwiki 21:41, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

The beta only opened to 5,000 more player, still close. Not sure about NDA.

Needs an update

I noticed that the article indicates the game officially went live this month. However the article's language is still written largely from the perspective of early beta. I personally haven't played the game since early beta and don't have access at the moment to the website or reviews or press releases. But if someone with access to the that sort of info could take some time to update the article, it would significantly improve it. Dugwiki 16:15, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

I updated the article from the beta perspective. --Αεκος 11:43, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

And I updated the article according to the most recent patch (135) :D Duct tape tricorn (talk) 01:41, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Removing fansites

I've removed the fansite links because 1) I believe that it was ruled some time ago that fansites are unencyclopedic, and 2) both the sites linked are dead. Dungeon Runners Retreat hasn't been updated since March (when the game was still in middle beta), and the game has undergone many, many changes since then (the class system as described no longer exists, the "Map" — really a flow chart — shows a version of the game that no longer exists, etc.). The Townstons Archive is only a small homepage with multiple internal deadlinks; if ever there was any data at the end of those links, it's gone now. In sum, they were unencyclopedic, and now they are woefully out of date and apparently abandoned. They offer nothing to someone looking for more info about the game. 12.22.250.4 20:42, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the Townston is now one of the biggest DR fansites out there (along with Hdol.net) and officially supported by NCSoft and the DR developers. Duct tape tricorn (talk) 01:41, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Contested passage

I'm removing this here because I believe it is inaccurate.

(by default). The player can manually change the camera to mock the isometric view.

I've been playing the game since it went live, and there is no such feature in the game. If I am incorrect, could someone please cite a source to back themselves up? The camera view in the game is strictly third person. 12.22.250.4 21:49, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes, this is true. http://www.g4tv.com/xplay/videos/17746/Dungeon_Runners_Review.html?keyword_key=1299 From G4 Duct tape tricorn (talk) 01:43, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Dr 250.jpg

Image:Dr 250.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Member Benefits

I added 1 more benefit for becoming a member, as per Build 91, there was made a member only server (World 2). --82.170.65.121 14:49, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I(Allen) added a note to the member benefit section on bank storage, noting free members now get one bank page —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.25.225.145 (talk) 23:24, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Added 2 member benefits prior to build 121. -- SewerSpeakers (talk) 09:20, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Updated. A lot of the previous info no longer holds true. Duct tape tricorn (talk) 01:45, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

History

I've been trying to hunt down sources for the development of this game, especially the connection to the cancelled Trade Wars/Exarch project. I'll dump some links I find here so me or anyone else can work on it later: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] --- RockMFR 15:36, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Ad Supported

The game is moving to an ad supported model, where you can access some of the "Members" features" in exchange for having advertisements shown in the client. The article should have something about that. Here's a link on the forum that has links to some official comments, and discussion. [10]

I think this has been done. Please check section below. Duct tape tricorn (talk) 23:51, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

This article is REALLY outdated

I updated important bits of the article, as f2pers can now use ALL rare (yellow) items, 75% of uniques (purples), and 25% of mythics (rainbows) And yes, the game is now ad-supported. Duct tape tricorn (talk) 23:51, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

What else can be added?/How to make this a great article?

I was just curious if anyone else is still working on this article. =) Duct tape tricorn (talk) 01:46, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Advert? Really?

If you think this article is written like an ad, don't just slap the ad template on it and walk away. You need to come to the talk page and specify which portions you have a problem with so other editors know where to start adjusting. I'm having trouble finding any blatantly slanted content here; most of the article is simply factual information that anyone interested in the game would be glad to learn. Included are also several unflattering facts that would never appear in any ad. Krychek (talk) 19:33, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

How is this game similar to WoW?

This game is in no way similar to world of warcraft, in gameplay, graphics or even game animations. It isn't and someone should delete that remark.

First off, they both have instances which usually use groups to go through, with bosses and loot, including equipment to make your characters better. The spells are also similar to an extent, including holy "Warrior" abilities to help keep the attention of monsters. The graphics are somewhate similar, with World of Warcraft graphics being slightly better. It also includes PvP combat where you are randomly matched with others and stuck in a small combat area, similar to World of Warcraft's arena battles.
In my opinion it is close enough to keep the remark. --67.61.59.157 (talk) 03:14, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

No classes section

Early in the article there is a reference to a Classes section: "(see Classes below)". There isn't actually a classes section. A Classes section should either be created, or this reference should be removed. Isaac B Wagner (talk) 21:06, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Two sections had been vandalised away in February. I restored them. Thank you for the heads-up. -84user (talk) 07:38, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 3 external links on Dungeon Runners. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
