Matt Neal's hometown
[edit]Are we sure Matt Neal lives in Droitwich? I thought he lived in Hanbury - a village near Droitwich but not part of Droitwich. Neal's profile on the BTCC website seems to confirm this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.168.127.196 (talk) 13:57, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
Salt extraction and subsidence
[edit]According to the information / interpretation panels around the town, the subsidence of High Street only started after the opening of John Corbett's pumps at Stoke Prior. As the plant extracted so much brine, it out-competed the other salt companies in town, driving them out of business. Eventually, the Stoke Prior plant was made unprofitable itself due to the number of insurance claims from residents / companies in the town.
The town itself also appears to have adopted a Latin motto: Sal Sapit Omnia (Salt Flavours All)
I've added the above information here as a 'holding' page until I can find some online sources to confirm it. Mittfh 10:04, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Local area
[edit]This sentence as it stands is POV:Tagwell Road, Lyttleton Road and Corbett Avenue are regarded as the three best residential streets in Droitwich, and are lined with the town's most sought-after dwellings. I am suggesting that it should be removed unless a source can be cited.
The entire article may be in need of a significant clean up, especially the exhaustive list of local shops - please see the proposal for a Worcestershire project. --Kudpung (talk) 17:44, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Starting to clean up
[edit]A couple of recent edits include the removal of the list of pubs, and comparatives or superlatives about schools. Unless a Wikipedia article exists about them for some special reason, schools that no loner exist are not of encyclopedic value. If they have been merged or amalgamated with another school, that fact could and should be mentioned.--Kudpung (talk) 05:51, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Rem this para whicheems to have got damaged either by vandalism removal or cleaning up. It contains a link to a ref.:
[will naturally replace the saturated brine, but if the brine is pumped out too quickly subsidence can occur;<ref name="MK08">"Salt: A World History" Mark Kurlansky (2003).</ref> over the years the removal of enormous quantities of salt from the substrata of the town led to considerable, if gradual, [subsidence] in specific parts of the town; [one photograph from the early 20th century shows one Droitwich house tilted at a considerable angle from the vertical] on the Worcester Rd] .

Retail
[edit]This article is fast becoming a shopping guide for Droitwich - something we generally try to avoid in an encyclopedia, the mentions of some non notable commerces being possible spurious advertising. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:48, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Add in a Demography section
[edit]Hi, I propose we expand this page to include a section on the town's demography. Comments please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neilpatrickwhelan (talk • contribs) 13:01, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
