Confusing picture caption
[edit]Currently the last picture in this article is of a fossil of Vallesaurus, another of the Drepanosauridae. It appears to be the same Vallesaurus cenenis holotype specimen shown in the Infobox of the Vallesaurus article, though not the same photo.
This Vallesaurus photo (i.e. in this Drepanosaurus article) is captioned
- "Vallesaurus cenensis relative to Drepanosaurus".
I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. Literally it suggests a comparison (". . . relative to . . .") of Vallesaurus to Drepanosaurus, but it is not adjacent to a photo of Drepanosaurus and has nothing to point out similarities or differences, as such wording implies. Alternatively it could be poor wording for "Vallesaurus cenensis, a relative of Drepanosaurus" which would be correct and relevant.
I'm reluctant to amend the caption without knowing what was actually intended. Any other opinions?
Incidentally, there is a news story up on the BBC website today
about Drepanosaurus, prompted by a paper in the current issue of Current Biology
which may be useful for someone more expert than I in editing the article further. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.202.211.191 (talk) 09:05, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- I agree with "The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195" in this instance; only the second interpretation ("a relative of") makes sense. I therefore intend to alter it. If anyone has a cogent argument for modifying it to make sense in a different way, please let us know! Orbitalforam (talk) 09:22, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- Personally I think the image could just be removed. FunkMonk (talk) 09:26, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- Well, that would be a reasonable alternative but it probably gives the best suggestion of what the skull of Drepanosaurus might look like. Anyway, I've asked Ghedo to alter the caption, we'll see what happens. Cheers!Orbitalforam (talk) 09:49, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
