Proposed merge: all novels into Drenai Series article

[edit]
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
To move material from Drenai Series to the relevant books, then merge it back to David Gemmell#Drenai Series. Klbrain (talk) 10:53, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Legend (Gemmell novel), The King Beyond the Gate, Waylander (novel), Quest for Lost Heroes, The First Chronicles of Druss the Legend, The Legend of Deathwalker, Winter Warriors, Hero in the Shadows, White Wolf (novel), and The Swords of Night and Day into Drenai Series. Many of these novels have no coverage at all, and those that have passing mention in any sources lack sufficient depth to meet the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (books). All are either stubs or plot-summary-only stubs, lacking soures to justify any discussion of critical reception, significance, analysis, influence or awards. Rather than see each picked off one by one via WP:PROD or WP:AfD, merge them each with a brief summary, creating a single article with some meat to it, possibly even with enough content to justify keeping it. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 02:13, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. There's an argument for the others (I disagree), but definitely with Legend absolutley oppose. Legend is widely talked about in the media, there are more than enough sources discussing it. 80.3.154.91 (talk) 10:20, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, these articles undoubtedly need work but I don't think that merging is the best way. You could consider doing this on a 'sub-series' level, e.g. for the Waylander I/II/III books to create meatier articles. I also disagree on the above points about notability, within fantasy readership Gemmell is noted as one of the finest writers of heroic fiction in the late 20th century, you can find references for Legend in the press if you try. I suggest we all just work down the list and improve/add references where we can rather than throw the baby out with the bath water. Mountaincirque 13:43, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: having thought about this further and reviewed the Drenai Series page, the main content here (the list of books) is replicated in the bibliography section of David Gemmell, the 'chronology' section is a weak reference, and it is quite a poor quality article generally, my proposal would be to delete it and move any snippets of value such as character descriptions into the book articles they relate to. @TTN and Dennis Bratland: your views or current views on this proposal / counter-proposal might help. Klbrain (talk) 09:53, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
