The Dead

[edit]

Alright, so the dead were revived because of the machine's breakdown. But what I don't understand is how ALL the revived dead ended up on Earth. The Ginyu Force died on Namek, but why were they resurrected on Earth, like all the others who died away from Earth? Jienum

There is nothing to say they could not have been brought to Earth. It was demonic forces at work, they were not resurrected with the dragon balls. So I don't think it's a goof. --GeneralDuke 21:13, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I accept what you say, but it just doesn't seem right. I mean, Hitler appears in Japan when everyone knows that he died in Germany. Not only do all the villains appear on Earth, but also where the Z Warriors are, even Dracula. Jienum

It was never stated (atleast to my knowledge)that Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z takes place in Japan. In every picture of a map of the world of Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z it never looks like the Earth that we live on. Also this is a Dragon Ball Z movie, meaning it is non cannon, and non cannon in the world of Dragon Ball Z is known to cause plotholes.

Just because it's a movie doesn't make it non-canon. I would consider DBZ movies more canon than the entire GT series, since it's more based off the actual story and is more familiar. metalhead 19:45, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Goofs Section

[edit]

I began by removing the two 'goofs' that had been based on characters appearing in Japan specifically. The Dragon World is not directly analogous to our Earth, and hence the point is invalid. The Dragon World has no Japan. I then decided to remove the 'goof' based on revived characters appearing on Earth instead of Namek, etc. I find no evidence this is a mistake, GeneralDuke's explanation above seems sufficient cause to justify removal. Following that, I noted that the one remaining 'goof' said that the translation of Goku's name means cloud. I'm no expert, but I've never heard that claim before, so unless it can be confirmed I see no point in keeping it. Concluding that the 'goofs' section was, therefore, rendered completely pointless, I removed it. DigitalAvatar 14:25, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well you do seem to have a point. First of all, I didn't put the Goku = Cloud thing. And now that you said that Dragon World is not our Earth, I have a new question: How come Romeo, Juliet, Dracula and Adolf Hitler appear in Dragon World if there's no Germany, Italy or Romania? I mean, according to what I've studied, Adolf Hitler never declared war on a place called Ginger Town or Papaya Island. That's a goof, and it should be added, but I'll wait for your answer first. Jienum
I'd say all of those characters are considered parodies, not intended to be taken seriously. I don't recall any of the characters being referenced by name, but merely being shown. As they're well-known famous/infamous figures to the viewers, we automatically make our own associations to them. I didn't note any swastikas on Adolf or his army (although since I only saw the dubbed version, I'm uncertain if that was cut or not). I do admit that I've only seen the dub version of this movie, and only once, so I'm by no means an expert on it. DigitalAvatar 07:10, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen the original Japanese dub (You should too: It's more funny!), and they never actually say that the short man with the thin moustache who is doing the Nazi Gesture is Hitler. But Dracula is also there, and he was supposed to be killed in Romania. It's a goof, trust me. Jienum —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.16.231.21 (talkcontribs) .
Sorry to butt in here, but remember, Jienum... Dracula does have a place on Dragon World. He was in one of the Dragon Ball movies as a main villain, if I'm not mistaken. As for the evil Nazi man and the people portraying Romeo and Juliet, who knows... Bandai and Bird Studio have a history of adding Toriyama-esque goofiness into their Dragon Ball productions. ~ Joseph Collins (U)(T)(C) 22:41, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a goof or anything. it's not even a big deal. it's just a portrayal of the effect of the evil laundering machine's breakdown. and none of it really took place in any specific location to begin with. it's actually kind of simple. metalhead 19:48, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poster

[edit]

This is the only DBZ film that doesnt have a poster picture. Could someone find one?

It used to be on the offical Funimation Films website but was tooking off.Themasterofwiki 21:05, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Profanity

[edit]

I have got the Japanese Version of the movie with English subtitles, and there seems to be a tiny little bit of profanity according to the subtitles. At one point, Vegeta and Trunks respectively refer to Hitler and Janemba as "the bastard". Also, Pikkon seems to scream the word "ASSHOLE" at the crystal jellies. Is that the real dialogue? Or have I got a fansub? Jienum 15:31, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • You've got yourself a crappy fansub. Paikuhan actually said "Aho" which means idiot in Japanese.
In response to both of you, Paikuhan actually said a lot of things. I prefer watching DBZ episodes and movies in the original japanese version. And profanity is common in DBZ, though it's not really a big deal. metalhead 19:52, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Placement in the Dragon Ball Timeline

[edit]

Since this is a movie event and cannot possibly happen within the canon storyline of Dragon Ball, I noted that the movie takes place in an alternate reality where Goku and Vegeta never came back to life after defeating Buu. When Goku goes Super Saiyan 3, he mentions showing it to Buu, and suspecting that all this would be going on without Buu having been defeated is absurd. --Detective X 09:53, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Already stated in List of Dragon Ball films-- bulletproof 3:16 03:24, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No mention is made of any timeline changes that would have been made for this movie. As stated above, to claim that this movie could have ever taken place in the "middle" of the Buu saga is wrong on so many levels. Claiming that it took place in such vein is implying that it could have happened within the actual storyline, and newcomers to the series will infer that.--Detective X 06:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't ever recall Goku even mentioning Buu in this movie. metalhead 19:54, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did a bit of math on this topic. The closest to real answer I could get is that it takes place within the space of perhaps 10-20 minutes in the Majin Buu Saga. These are my reasons: - Both Vegeta & Son Goku are both deceased, the only time I can recall that was when Son Goku was on the Planet of the Kai's and Vegeta was in Hell. - During this time period of Goku being dead, the only time he used Super Saiyan 3 against Majin Buu was the Fat Buu form. - Gotenks didn't go Super Saiyan 3. [Granted he may not have had to, but we have no way of telling if he could or couldn't. Let's presume he could] - Gohan did not go Super Saiyan, [Although it is unclear weather he had the Elder Kai's power, let's presume he did at this point]

This pretty much leads me to a point between Gotenks leaving the Hyperbolic Time Chamber/Room of Spirit and Time. Also up to the point where Son Gohan is infact his Mystic/Ultimate form, whatever you want to call it.

So. This leads really any time before Goku is revived by the Elder Kaió sacrificing his life, leading us to believe this was before Gohan or possibly even Gotenks were absorbed by Majin Buu. However, presuming of course that Gohan was in his [let's call it Mystic form] Mystic form. We can narrow it down to about, the point where he was either. A) Traveling to Majin Buu to kick seven kinds of heck out of him. B) Kicking seven kinds of heck out of him. C) After Majin Buu blows himself up.

Right. That's about a gap of maximum of maybe... half an hour. Maybe more, we're not sure, but if I go by a relative estimate of the Manga frames. I'd say probably 10 to 70 minutes.

Now of course let's presume Gotenks cannot infact go Super Saiyan 3, and Gohan is not in his Mystic form. That leaves us with only one real option. A) When Gotenks fought [Fat] Majin Buu in his base form, or challenged him in Super Saiyan and powered down due to diffusion. However! the obvious flaw then is that Gotenks cannot infact use Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack at that point, leaving it to my first two choices.

So the estimate is that Fusion Reborn happened in about an hour to an hour and a half at maximum, and as everyone may or may not know. They would not have just grabbed Videl from the Lookout, dashed back down, changed clothes to the Great Saiyaman outfits, had a quick cuppa' and started fighting in a city. Oh, and now that i've thought about it. That probably wouldn't have happened as Majin Buu's Genocide Blast technique killed just about everyone on Earth.

So, the only few choices I was left with was that. A) When Gohan was flying to fight Buu and made a detour for about an hour or so. B) When he was pummeling Buu and decided to go check out a city instead. C) During the space where Majin Buu was waiting for the hour gap for Goten and Trunks to fuse.

Actually, there is one possible time for Fusion Reborn to have happened. That was during Gotenks Vs Super Buu in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber/Room of Spirit & Time, they must have snuck out, had a quick cup of tea and told Majin Buu to wait for a hour or three. - Hycanithe

Wow, large post. It's a movie. It doesn't exist in the timeline. Most of the movies are a "what if" I believe. I think this one is a "what if Mystic Gohan defeated Super Buu" - at least that's what I've read somewhere.

ok here my what i think....this happens if you've played ...omg i cant remember the certain GAMEBOY one but, this is supposed to happen after cell explodes and goku has lost "technically" the grand kai's martial arts tournament, the part where you run along snake way and jump to Yemma's office, you hear the explosion and you goto hell and you can either A) fight janemba first or B) make your way thru hell aviod portal fists (janemba's "portal Fists") and vampires and get to vageta...make your way bak to the begining and fight janemba with vegeta (makes it SERIUOSLY easier cuz u can fuse and make gogeta wich kicks janembas ASS ^_^)

Madness (talk) 22:25, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The movies don't exist in the canon time line. They are just side stories that are based on whatever story arc the show is currently in. The show was in the middle of the Buu saga, so this movie has elements from the Buu saga up till the point the show was at (the fusion dance, Super Saiyan 3, Goku and Vegeta being dead). That's it. Figuring out how it could have happened within the actual time line is pointless, and as such I suggest removing the whole "inconsistencies" section as it just makes things needlessly confusing. Besides, was it even stated in the movie that Goku had become stronger than Super Saiyan 3?

Starone (talk) 17:18, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Somehow this has to fit. It explains how in Dragon Ball GT Vegita knew the Fusion Dance perfectly. Goku had not shown him that during the Buu series. It also explains how even tho Piccolo said Vegita wouldn't get his body back in other world he actually did. Goku didn't go back to other world until he showed Goten and Tanks the fusion technique, and Vegita was dead so this could have been there, but what doesnt make sence is what is happening on earth since Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Videl are in completely different places. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.168.8 (talk) 01:59, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
